my buddy has a 90TT that puffs blue smoke out of the passenger exhaust on cold starts for minutes. He wants to upgrade to either GT600R's or something similar and doesn't know if the motor will handle it safely. Yes, rebuilding it would be the best option, but he doesn't want to tear apart a motor that still runs well and has decent compression. Also a JDM motor is a gamble. 1) Is it safe to install a medium sized turbo upgrade (gt28r) on a motor with ~135 compression across the board? with appropriate supporting mods. 2) Hasn't done a leakdown test yet. If he does, and finds out the valve seals are leaking, do you think it would be foolish to pull the motor, pull the heads, have the heads rebuilt along with new turbos and leave the bottom end untouched? any other advice is appreciated also, thanks
